The 3D CamCarpet concept has been one of the pillars of our company from its inception.
In 1997 we were the first to introduce it to the market, allowing sport rights owners to generate new powerful advertising assets from the main fixed camera positions.
Right from the first applications in the German Bundesliga, sponsors could enjoy the attention of millions of fans at home, cutting through the clutter created by all the surrounding perimeter advertising.
From there, our 3D CamCarpets became a staple of football advertising around the world and allowed us to develop our 3D Advertising Technology so it could be applied to other areas of the venue and to other sports.
In the beginning, our 3D CamCarpets were not printed, but instead, hand painted. The carpets would be hung on a back wall in small sections and, through the use of a projector, we produced the stencil to trace the lines that were, eventually, filled in with the required colours.
The product became immediately popular but the manufacturing process was very cumbersome and time-consuming, and quickly became a bottleneck. This is when we replicated the whole process on a digital level, using proprietary software and special super wide printers capable of handling heavy materials like a carpet.
This allowed for a much faster process and, critically, increased the level of precision and the amount of detail we could offer to clients.
And this process of improvement has never stopped since, keeping up the research for the best materials, evolving the product with 2View to tackle the reverse camera position challenge, and importantly, joining forces with the UK firm SignAway, leaders in 3D grass pitch advertising, to provide our customers with the most complete range of advertising solutions for sporting events.
